Quest Information
Quests in Neversummer 4 are broken up into the following six categories:
Job Quests
These entires are specific to your currently running job, and represent only your progress in that job - not any underlying tasks or missions. The quests that the job opens up will appear as separate entries, but this journal entry gives you an overview of your current job level, as well as pointing you in the right direction to find related quests.
Personal Quests
Quests revolving around one particular person or family, or one particular player. These quests may be relatively self-contained, however there can be a few regional effects based on the outcome of the quest or task. Examples include the standard fetch-and-retrieve quests, aiding a family in need, or competing in an archery contest.
Regional Quests
These quests are city-wide or confined to a specific region or area, involving a few relatively minor NPCs, townsfolk, and so forth. A bandit attack, goblin invasion, poisoning of a forest, or an evil spirit taking residence in a cave are examples of Regional quests.
Factional Quests
Factional quests can be given out by faction leaders or sometimes other NPCs. These quests affect the standing of the faction as a whole, but do not involve other factions in the realm. Acquiring new technology and resources for your faction, recruiting soldiers, or strengthening faction defenses are examples of this. Effects will be felt on a faction-wide level, sometimes affecting higher-order quests.
Realm Quests
Realm-wide quests represent the battle for Aetheria as a whole. Faction vs. Faction conflicts, factional searches for the mysteries of the rifts (as opposed to a player's personal search for those answers), and the general battle for power in the realm. These quests are heavily influenced by the outcomes of Factional and Regional quest types.
Epic Quests
Epic quests represent each player's personal journey through the realm. Epic quests can be interwoven in other quests, affecting their outcomes, and affect the knowledge and power the player can gain. The main Epic quest for a given player could represent his personal search for the answer to the mysteries of the Planar Rifts, his search for a way home, his search for peace in Aetheria, or all of these combined.
